Eligibility criteria for Diploma courses
The minimum qualification required for admission into a diploma course is passing of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC)/10th/equivalent examination, with at least 35% and above in science and maths subjects. The state boards of technical education of most of the states in India may conduct entrance tests for the admission formalities.

Eligibility criteria for B Tech/B.E
- Students should have passed in 12th Standard or equivalent examination with Physics, chemistry and Mathematics along with Bio-Technology/ Biology as optional subject, with English as one of the main language of study.
- Students must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% and above of marks in the above mentioned subjects.
- Students from Karnataka of scheduled cast must have obtained 40% and above
- Students must have appeared in any one of the entrance exams conducted by the Govt. of Karnataka or Govt. of India (CET, COMEDK, KRLM, and AIEEE etc.)

Eligibility criteria for M Tech/M.E
Karnataka PGCET Eligibility Criteria is as follows:
- Students must be Indian Nationals
- Students must have passed B.E/B.Tech or equivalent exam with a aggregate of 50% and above (45% and above for SC, ST and Category Students)
- Students can apply on the basis of required GATE score and will be absolved from Karnataka state PGCET
- Such candidates will be given preference over Karnataka PGCET candidates
- Reservation guidelines may be applicable only for Karnataka state candidates (even for GATE applicants)
Admission Procedure
To get admission into engineering program, students have to pass state level entrance test i.e. KCET & COMEDK UGET etc. Students can also get admission into B.Tech program in Karnataka state through the JEE Main score. Few Universities are organizing its own admission test for admission into engineering courses such as PESSAT & MU OET etc. Student’s admission into B.Tech courses will be strictly based on the merit list declared. Some colleges providing the facility of direct admission into engineering program.
Entrance Exam
The admission into engineering program in Karnataka will be based on state level exams & national level exams. Karnataka state Common Entrance Test (KCET) is held by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The application form may be available from the second week of January 2017. COMEDK UGET 2017 Application Form may be issued from the second week of February 2017. It is managed by the COMEDK department.
Selection Procedure
Diploma in engineering Selection will be made according to the marks obtained by the candidates in 10th /12th class or equivalent examinations. Candidates can also apply for their choice of colleges, but the selection will be done according to the seats available in the colleges and marks obtained in the 10th or equivalent class.
The selection of students into B.Tech programs will be based on the merit list. Students have to appear in the counselling process after qualifying the entrance exam conducted. The counselling process will be organized by the exam conducting authorities. In the counselling procedure, students have to register by paying the counselling fees. Students have to confirm their seat by selecting courses & institutions. Student’s documents will be verified at the time of counselling. The seat will be allotted to the students on the basis of rank list, filled choice & seat availability.
Aspirants seeking admissions in Mtech/ME engineering programmes in the top most institute must have valid GATE scores. Those with a second class will also be considered for admissions.
Candidates may hold a second class in below mentioned qualifying exams to be eligible (SC/ST category need to pass only)
Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/ Technology (4 years)
Bachelor’s degree holders in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Electronics recognized by UPSC/AICTE.
